This Week in Bude

Bude has been buzzing with a mix of local talent, sporting triumphs, and community spirit this week. Nick Hart and Tom Moore are making waves with their local performances, while our Seasiders are gearing up for a couple of challenging matches against Perranporth. The Pirates, unfortunately, faced a tough defeat against Worcester, but there was a valiant effort from our Bude team against the league leaders. Looking ahead, St. Michael's Church is set to host a spectacular Easter music festival, and a popular local festival will be graced by a star from "The Traitors". For those interested in the local scene, the 2026 Spring/Summer Events Guide has been released, and the Bude & Stratton Post continues to keep us informed on local news, including a reminder about acting fast in cardiac emergencies and a call to support litter picks along our beautiful coastline. In more positive news, a Cornish brewery has triumphed at the pub industry's 'Oscars', and a local charity has won a global award and a new Defender. Our very own Ben Maguire, MP for North Cornwall, has been making contributions in Westminster, and we also saw a royal visit from the King and Queen. The RNLI lifeguard service is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a training exercise, and our local star Caudery has secured a gold medal for Team GB. Weather-wise, it's been a bit damp with lingering rain and drizzle expected, so keep those umbrellas handy! On a more positive environmental note, storm spills have been reduced in Altarnun following South West Water improvements, and there's good news for green spaces with planning for works to a protected tree on Bowden Lane. Finally, exciting plans are underway for remedial works and repairs at the historic Bray Institute in Marhamchurch.
